Alpha-amylase HA-450LFG (Thermostable, Low pH)

With its robust alpha-amylase activity and superior thermal and pH stability, HA-450LFG has found its wide application in the production of alcohol.

Product Description

Description
HA-450LFG is a food-grade alpha-amylase produced from Bacillus licheniformis through submerged fermentation and refining extraction processes. It is an endoamylase that can hydrolyze starch,  glycogen and its degradation products within the alpha-D-1,4 glucosidic bonds to produce soluble  dextrins and oligosaccharides, thus rapidly decrease the viscosity of gelatinous starch solutions. With its robust alpha-amylase activity and superior thermal and pH stability, HA-450LFG has found  its wide application in the production of alcohol.

Effect of pH
HA-450LFG works at pH from 4.8 to 6.0, with its optimal pH from 5.0 to 5.9. The exact pH optimum  depends on actual processing conditions, including temperature, substrate concentration and time.

Effect of Temperature
For interval liquefaction, HA-450LFG works at temperatures from 80 to 100°C with its optimum  temperature ranging from 83 to 86°C. It liquefies starch substrates promptly at 90 to 95ºC and  maintains highly active at 100ºC. For consecutive liquefaction, HA-450LFG demonstrates its  exceptional thermo-stability at high temperatures ranging from 105 to 110ºC and keeps on liquefying efficiently for 5 to 7 minutes.

Inhibitors
Copper, titanium, and cobalt ions are moderate inhibitors for HA-450LFG whilst aluminum, lead  and zinc ions are strong inhibitors.

Dosage Guidelines
First, adjust pH to 5.0 to 5.9, and then add HA-450LFG. Heat the slurry for liquefaction at a  temperature range from 83 to 86ºC for 90 to 150 minutes. The final DE value should be maintained at a range of 10 to 12.
Dosage of HA-450LFG is dependent on the actual application conditions including starch substrate, process, substrate concentration and other factors. To optimize the dosage rate, it is recommended  to conduct a number of liquefaction trials prior to routine use of this product. A good starting  dosage rate is 0.10 ∼ 0.20kg/TDS.

Packaging, Storage & Shelf-life
  • HA-450LFG is packaged in 25kg, 30kg food-grade HDPE plastic drums or 1125kg IBC totes.  Customized packaging is available upon request.
  • Typical shelf-life is six months if it is stored below 25°C in its original packaging, sealed and  unopened, protected from direct sunlight.
  • Its shelf-life will be eighteen months if it is stored properly at 0∼10°C.
  • This enzyme has been formulated for optimal stability. Prolonged storage and/or adverse  conditions such as higher temperatures may lead to a higher dosage requirement, therefore  should be avoided.

Safe Handling of Enzymes
Inhalation of enzyme dust and mists should be avoided. In case of contact with the skin or eyes,  promptly rinse with water for at least 15 minutes. For detailed handling information, please refer  to the Safety Data Sheet.
